Students will develop their creativity, a talent which will help them in their lives on a daily basis. Learning musical improvisation begins with an overview of the mental processes that take place in improvisation and continues with an explanation and understanding of harmony and melodic construction that is unique to improvisation and beyond the performance of written music.
Students will learn how to use scales, shape solos, use dynamics effectively and employ harmonization techniques. In addition they will develop skills in analyzing and interpreting songs, making effective performance decisions, and working successfully with an ensemble.
